About Us

UCLan is proud to host the Advancing Dysphagia Practice (ADP) Team.

Please feel free to download and distribute our flyer to help promote the ADP Team.

Our aim is to influence best practice by delivery of the highest quality, up-to-date, evidence-based professional development opportunities in dysphagia.

All the ADP initiatives and events are delivered by highly specialist professionals who are recognised experts in their field.

Our events are open to all healthcare professionals working with people who have dysphagia, with emphasis on the context of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

All our events are framed in the context of national and international policy guidance and incorporate the key issues of:

  • Clinical decision-making
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Multi-disciplinary working
  • Outcome measurement
  • Risk assessment
  • Service evaluation approaches
  • Skill-mix and working with assistants
  • Training others
  • Influences on concordance

All the core members of the ADP Team are currently working in relevant specialist clinical, teaching or research roles and all have recognised external reputation within their own field.

The ADP Core Team is led by two Co-Directors: Dr Hazel Roddam and Dr Hannah Crawford.
